Volume entitled 'The Interior of the Abbey of Westminster' by Victor A Prout [London: Paul & Dominic Colnaghi, 1860] with 23 prints showing mainly monuments. It contains a contents list with original captions. A few prints are dark or poor but most show extensive detail which illustrate monuments prior to later repairs or restorations. These are some of the earliest known interior images of the Abbey - interior photography would have been difficult prior to 1860.
Victor Albert Prout was a photographer: born in 1835 and died in 1877.
The volume contains the bookplate of the Central Library in Lewisham.
The volume was purchased by the NMR in November 2007 from Dominic Winter Book Auctions of South Cerney, Gloucestershire.
