The collection contains about 4000 35mm slides, negatives and prints of stained glass in churches, chapels, houses and cathedrals in England. A significant proportion of them relate to St Mary's Church, Fairford, Gloucestershire. The collection was compiled by Dr Hilary Wayment and the images were taken between the 1960s and 1980s.
The collection comprises the following series: 35 mm slides depicting glass in a variety of buildings, photographic prints and 35mm strip negatives with index cards of St Mary's, Fairford, and a bundle of prints accompanied by a printed article by Dr Wayment entitled 'The Stained Glass at Chavenage House, Tetbury, Gloucestershire' reprinted from the 'Antiquaries Journal' in 1998.
A handlist of the slides is attached.

'Corpus Vitrearum Medii Aevi: Great Britain: Windows of King's College Chapel, Cambridge: Description and Commentary' was published by the British Academy in 1972 and was followed by at least two other works on the subject by Dr Wayment. 'The Stained Glass of the Church of St Mary, Fairford, Gloucestershire' was published by the Society of Antiquaries, London in 1984
The collection was transferred to the NMR by Dr Hilary Wayment in December 2000.
