The collection contains research notes, drawings, photographs, negatives, 35mm slides and postcards produced and collected by Dr William A. Pantin (1902-1973). It deals mainly with vernacular architecture in Oxfordshire, the Cotswolds and other southern English counties including Avon, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Surrey, Kent, West and East Sussex. Oxford itself is particularly well covered and there is a box of material dealing solely with Broad Street.
The contents of the collection were compiled between about 1930 and 1973 and there are some early photographs of Oxford that could date from the 1890s.
