Description

The collection contains a photographically illustrated book entitled ‘Nottingham, Past and Present’ by Frederick S. Williams, photographed and printed by R. Allen and Son, Caxton House. The publication contains 29 black and white albumen photographic prints showing views of the city of Nottingham.

Locations include the floods of 1875, inhabited caves, Ashmore & Pickering Shop on Long Row, Flying Horse Hotel, the General Hospital, Bestwood Lodge, St Barnabus Church, School of Art, 'Blind Asylum', the Congregational Institute, along with buildings now demolished.

Archival History

The Collection was acquired by The Historic England Archive in 2012.
