Description

The collection consists of two measured drawings of 'Bracebridge Asylum'.

The hospital opened as the ‘Lincolnshire County Lunatic Asylum’ or ‘Lincolnshire County Asylum’ in 1852. It was expanded several times in the late 19th century. The site was later known as ‘Bracebridge Asylum’. The hospital was renamed ‘Bracebridge Mental Hospital’ in 1919, and later ‘Bracebridge Heath Hospital’ in 1939. In 1961 it was renamed St John’s Hospital. The hospital closed in 1989.
