Description

The original St Mary's Church was destroyed in the Great Fire of London in 1666 and the church subsequently rebuilt by Sir Christopher Wren. This is turn was gutted during an air raid on 29th December 1940 and the ruins of the church were later transferred to Westminster College in Missouri, U.S.A. The footings of the former church were then turned into a public garden on Aldermanbury.
