Description

The photographer has noted on the back of the print: 'No 19. This church, probably designed by Inigo Jones, was very severely damaged inside during the 1939 - 45 war. Restoration finished before March 1963'.

The church was built around 1628 - 31, a time when new churches were rare, and is the sole Jacobean church to survive in London. Only the south-west tower of the church predates this and was probably built c1504. It was restored in 1878 - 9 by R. P. Notley and is now a Guild Church, meaning it has no parish.
