Description

This photograph was taken during the filming of a garden make-over, possibly for BBC television's current affairs programme 'Tonight'. The property was owned by Anne Scott-James (1913- 2009), one of Britain's first career journalists. In April 1944 she married fellow journalist Macdonald Hastings (1909-1982), a noted war reporter and co-founder/editor of Country Fair Magazine. Their son, seen in this photograph, is the journalist, author and military historian Sir Max Hugh Macdonald Hastings (b. 1945).
