Description

Building of Her Majesty's Naval Base, Devonport (HMNB Devonport) began with construction of what is now known as the South Yard in 1690. Plymouth was heavily bombed during the Second World War, with the Royal Dockyards the main target. The Admiral's House, along with most of the other houses in the Officers' Terrace was destroyed during the Plymouth Blitz.
