Description

The mayoral residence was built for the Doncaster Corporation by James Paine between 1746 and 1748 and altered between 1801 and 1806 by William Lindley. The Council Chamber, the new Banqueting Hall of 1806, has a gallery on the west side, within a square recess of the wall. It is flanked by pairs of Corinthian columns that support a continuous frieze with swags.
