Description

Detail of a 12th century font with octagonal base and round bowl, and arcading around it. The arcading creates eleven areas, four of which contain figures, while the others contain decorative foliage and scrollwork, as well as a scene of the Crucifixion on the eastern side. Five areas of arcading can be seen in this image, with foliage in three, and figures with long robes and halos in two areas. The church dates to the 14th and 15th centuries, with restoration work carried out in 1868-69 by W. Slater.
