Description

The photographer’s notes state: ‘Merchant Venturers' Almshouses. Street front on north side King Street. The south side of Merchant Venturers' Hall on the left.'

Noted in red: ‘The west half of the street front was demolished between March & Sept. 1942 to make room for a large roundabout. The greater part of the Merchant Venturers' Hall was destroyed in air raids before June 1941. What was left was nearly all cleared away by Sept. 1942 for the above roundabout.'
