The photographer’s notes state: ‘Gutted building, formally a school, adjoining the former Assembly Room's west end, in Narrow Quay, east side, and on the north side of Assembly Room Lane. The Co-operative Wholesale Society Ltd's building just seen on left, on the north side of Currant Lane.'
There is a later addition stating: ‘The gutted building was demolished, apart from its ground floor, before Sept 1942.'
