Description

The photographer’s notes state: ‘Queen Square, south side (easterly part). Nos. 26 (on left), 27, 28 and 29 (portion on right). Beyond No. 26 is Bell Avenue. Adjoining this house in Bell Avenue is an old gabled outbuilding which belongs to and which adjoins at its south end the back of the Coach and Horses inn on the Grove. The top of the spire of St Mary Redcliffe can just be seen above this outbuilding.'

Noted in red: ‘No. 26 was demolished in the spring of 1937 to make room for the new Western Road. The outbuilding was made much shorter and thus set back very much at the end of 1936 or the beginning of 1937 for the same reason.'
