Description

The south transept dates to around 1230-1240 and has three aisled bays, one of which is blocked on the east and west aisles. The tomb of Archbishop Thompson was erected by Bodley in 1896, with the effigy by Sir J. H. Thornycroft. The chest tomb has carvings of angels, and above the effigy is a Gothic triple canopy.
