Description

The Judgement Porch is situated in the south wall, east of the smaller east transept, and has a deep entrance with a large gable over it. There are two doors, each with a cinquefoil head, and above is a tympanum with a seated figure of Christ in the centre, gesturing towards a wound in his side. He is positioned within a quatrefoils, and surrounding him are angel forms. Over the tympanum are three orders of arches, with sixteen figures in the outer order, eight male and eight female. The middle order is foliage, and the inner order has twelve seated kings and queens. This work most likely dates to 1250-1260.
