Description

The cathedral was built in stages, with the transepts dating between 1220 and 1255, and the aisled nave between 1291 and 1360. Building continued until c1460, and the church was rededicated 3rd July 1472. The Lady Chapel has three aisled bays, and is situated east of the presbytery. The east window is flanked by canopied niches and below is a blind arcade. The traceried arch divides the chapel from its south aisle and is flanked by columns with multiple shafts.
