Description

The exact location of the summer house and Old English Garden within the grounds of Foots Cray Place is unknown.

The photographer's notes state: 'Old English Garden. Tea House at further end. Used as an Archery ground'. Early morning'.

Foots Cray Place was a large 18th century house, modelled on an Italian villa designed by Andrea Palladio. It was demolished in 1950 after being extensively damaged in a fire the year before. The grounds of the house are now part of Foots Cray Meadows.
