97-101 Eltham High Street was formerly a private residence, built in the early 18th century, known as Cliefden House.
The photographer's notes state: 'Nos 97 (left shop), 99 "Cliefden" in centre (round arched front door) & 101 (right shop) forming the high building, High Street (n. side). This building & later addition (brick) on r. No 103 together formed Cliefden House some time ago'.
