The Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company owned SS Caledonia was launched in May 1894 and undertook her maiden voyage to Mumbai in November of that year. In 1895 she broke the outward record to Mumbai and was present at the Diamond Jubilee Review in 1897. In 1925 a routine examination at Mumbai showed her propeller shaft was cracked and she was scrapped the same year. The painting by W Lloyd possibly shows the liner on her maiden voyage.
