The photograph was commissioned by the owners of RMS Britannic, White Star Line, and was shot at the White City exhibition site, perhaps during the Anglo-American Exhibition of 1914. After RMS Britannic was launched in 1914, the ship stayed in Belfast until it became a hospital ship in the first World War.
