Sledmere House originally dates from the 18th century, when it was built for Sir Mark Sykes, the 1st Baronet. Sir Mark Sykes, 6th Baronet, shown standing at the back of the group, died two years later in 1919 of the Spanish Flu epidemic. This photograph was taken for Howard & Sons, decorators.
