SS Melita was launched in 1917 and after fitting out she entered service on the Canadian Pacific transatlantic routes in January 1918. She was renamed Liguria and was used as troop transport during WWII. In 1941 she was scuttled as a result of damage caused by an air attack on Tobruk.
