Description

This neo-Elizabethan house was built in 1887 by Thomas Oliver who made his money in railways. After his death in 1920 it was sold, later becoming a girls high school called Tanbridge House. The photograph is one of a batch taken for builders and decorators George Trollope & Sons with subject recorded as Tanbridge & Tanfield in the Bedford Lemere daybook.
