This statue is part of a pair of 1894, copied from 4th century statues recovered from the Villa of the Papyri at Herculaneum. They were moved from Victoria Embankment Gardens to the Orangery at Holland Park in 1962 after repeated vandalism. This photograph was commissioned by Champion, Druce and Company, who were 'white lead corroders', a process used in the production of lead paint.
