This is one of a series of four images showing the building's progress over a period beginning with the first photograph taken on the 3rd of May 1923. The hoarding on the wall advertises that the 'Second Section of the new Selfridge Building' will be completed early the following year. The original store opened in 1909 with further expansion after the First World War. The client for this photograph is F D Huntington Limited who were the building contractors employed for the project.
