Description

The Bedford Lemere daybook records the name 'Cecil Harris Esq' next to the property name; research confirms that the house was owned and occupied by Mr and Mrs Cecil Harris during the early twentieth century. The artist Ivon Hitchens was a friend of the couple and painted regularly at Moatlands; his painting 'Winter Stage' of 1936 shows the view from within this loggia at the house.

The photograph was commissioned by the Education Supply Association.
