The Bedford Lemere Ships Register records that these photographs were taken whilst the ship was docked in Antwerp, Belgium, and that the series of images was commissioned by the ship's owners, the Canadian Pacific Railway Company. SS Melita was launched in 1917 and after fitting out she entered service in January 1918 covering the Canadian Pacific transatlantic routes. She was subsequently renamed 'Liguria' and was used as troop transport during WWII. In 1941 she was scuttled as a result of damage caused by an air attack on Tobruk, Libya.
This is part of the Series: HBL01/01 Series of photographic negatives and prints; within the Collection: HBL01 The Bedford Lemere Collection
