A "Chloronome" manufactured by the Paterson Engineering Company

The "Chloronome" was used to purify water supplies by the addition of chlorine gas. The technique was used during the First World War to provide clean water to troops at the Western Front. This photograph was commissioned by the Paterson Engineering Company, who operated from premises at 10 Kingsway, Westminster.
