The SS Montlaurier was launched in 1907 as the SS Prinz Friedrich Wilhelm. In 1921 she was bought by Canadian Pacific Steamships and renamed Empress of China. During the remainder of the decade she sailed under the names SS Empress of India (1921-1923), SS Montlaurier (1923-1925) and SS Montnairn (1925-1929) before being scrapped in 1929. The photograph was taken for the Canadian Pacific Railway Company whilst she docked at Liverpool. This is one of two contrasting images described in the Bedford Lemere 'Ships Book' as the 3rd class dining saloon (see BL27040/016).
This is part of the Series: HBL01/01 Series of photographic negatives and prints; within the Collection: HBL01 The Bedford Lemere Collection
