The County Hall was built in 1935-1939. The building's final design was the result of an architectural competition. The design shown in this photograph won third prize; the competition was won by James and Bywaters and Rowland Pierce. The background has been removed from the copy of this photograph in the Red Box Collection. The same design is also shown in CC47/00672-CC47/00677.
