Description

The Foundling Hospital was established in 1739 by Thomas Coram to house and educate abandoned or orphaned children. Originally located in Bloomsbury, London, in 1926 it was temporarily relocated to Redhill in Surrey while a new purpose-built building was erected in Berkhamsted. The new Foundling Hospital opened in 1935. The building is now (2021) in use as Ashlyn's School.
