Description

This image is reproduced as Plate LXXII in 'The Gardens of England: The Northern Counties', edited by Charles Holme, 1911. The Topiary Garden was originally laid out by Guillaume Beaumont (who also designed gardens at Hampton Court) in the early 18th century. It was restored by Alexander Forbes in the mid 19th century.
