Description

A similar, correctly-oriented version of this image appears on page 61 of Richard Southern's 1970 book, 'The Victorian Theatre - a Pictorial Survey', although he is likely to have sourced the image from either the archives of the Drama Department at the University of Bristol or from Birmingham Reference Library, as credited in the acknowledgements of the book.

The caption for the book's image describes the stage scenery as incorporating 'profiled tree wings', 'cut foliage borders' and a 'forest backcloth'.
