The exact location of the image is not known but it is recorded in the original register of negatives as 'Ashopton Valley (Bamford)'.
Ashopton was one of two villages in the High Peak district of Derbyshire which were demolished and then submerged by the construction of the Ladybower Reservoir in the 1930s and 1940s.
