The massive entrance arch to Euston Railway Station, commonly known as the Euston Arch, as seen from Euston Street. The arch was built in 1837 and is actually a classical-style Doric 'propylaeum', meaning monumental gateway.

Description

The twenty-two metre high arch was designed by architect Philip Hardwick, and built by William Cubitt. It was intended to mirror a similar entrance structure at Birmingham's Curzon Street Station, at the other end of the London and Birmingham Railway's line.
