Description

Arnold Bennett was born in Hanley in 1867. After a spell in journalism, notably as editor of Woman magazine, he dedicated himself to his own works as a novelist, playwright and essayist. He is best known for his novels chronicling life in the Potteries, including Anna of the Five Towns and the Old Wives' Tale.
