Description

The lower plaque reads: Waterfront Walkway. These reclaimed and replica plaques are from within Millbay Docks. The singer on a sail making machine, the carruthers on cranes, the Armstrong on the former rail bridge at the docks' mouth. The wall was covered in signs earlier this century. Old fixings can still be seen.

The upper plaque reads: Sir W C. Armstrong. Whitworth & Co Ltd. Elswick Works, Newcastle upon Tyne.
