Description

This is drawing L33/286/Maps III FLITTON. The original item is held by BLARS (Bedfordshire and Luton Archives and Records Service). Apply to Lord Lucas for permission to reproduce. Photographer's note: ' 'A Survey of Elders Green Dairy in the Parish of Flitton and County of Bedford, the Estate of Benjamin Tomkins of Abbingdon in Bucks. Gent' taken by Joseph Cole. Gold leaf, ink and watercolour (green, red, yellow, blue and purple) on parchment. Folded. Elaborate scrollwork cartouche. Compass indicator. Farm yard and closes, including three detached closes, making 47 acres in all. Inset table of references giving field names and acreages. All trees marked and identified by species ( e for elm, a for ash, and o for oak) 1756'.
