Photographer's note: 'The tomb of William Goodlad, erected in 1639, commemorates the life of a nationally significant figure in the development of British maritime routes ... Mary Haddock's tomb was dedicated in 1688 and her family name was drawn upon by Hergé for the character of Captain Haddock in his 'Adventures of Tintin' comics.'
