Photographer's note: 'Sterling silver trophy, The Thellusson Cup, loving-cup design with two auricular shaped handles. Inscribed on the top half The Thellusson Cup / Presented by / Chas Thellusson, Esq. / to / The Faverolles Club for Old Birds, with engraving of two Faverolles (a breed of chicken) on the bottom half. Measurements are: height 6½ inches; width 6 inches, plus 2 inch handles on either side. There are two small dents: one to the reverse and one on the front central rim next to the left handle, left of the main inscription. There are numerical inscriptions on the base, at present unidentified. The trophy is stamped and hallmarked as follows: D & M over D into a shield, anchor, lion passant (facing left), b. This translates as: D & M Davis [David & Maurice Davis], Birmingham, sterling silver, 1901. David & Maurice were active in Livery Street, Birmingham from 1896. The firm continued its activity under the name of D & M Davis Ltd. H 6 1/2 inches; W 6 inches plus 2 inch handles on either side. 88382996.'
