Description

the Cooperative Store was designed by Paley and Austin, and was built in 1901 for the Lancaster and Skerton Equitable Industrial Cooperative Society Ltd. Originally opened as a cooperative store and hall, it was rebuilt in the early 1980s as a department store with the original facade. The building is considered to be the finest of several Cooperative shops in Lancaster designed by Austin and Paley.
