Description

The railway station was built in 1876-1879 and operated as a railway terminus until May 1969. It was redeveloped as an exhibition and conference centre known as the Greater Manchester Exhibition and Event Centre, or the Greater Manchester Exhibition Centre, commonly known as GMEX. The name was changed to Manchester Central Convention Complex, also simply known as Manchester Central, in 2006.
