The village of Dunchurch was where some of those involved in the Gunpowder Plot of 1605 gathered in order to carry out the abduction of King James I's daughter, Elizabeth of Bohemia, once the king had been killed. It was also where Robert Catesby, leader of the plot, initially fled after hearing of Guy Fawkes' arrest.
