Description

The drawing is reproduced on page 18 of the 1987 English Heritage site guidebook.

Excavations at Beeston Castle have found small iron plates which come from a 'jack of plates' jacket, indicating that there were worn by soldiers garrisoned there. Although predominantly worn in the 16th century, the jackets are also thought to have been worn by those defending the castle during the seige of 1643.
