Description

Old Oswestry Hillfort is a large, multivallate Iron Age hillfort in Shropshire, built on a site showing evidence of occupation from the Late Bronze Age. The western entrance to the hillfort, depicted in this image, was defended by a distinctive system of earthwork ramparts with 'pits'. This rampart formation has not been observed at any other Iron Age hillfort to date.
