Description

The upper gun deck is within the earliest part of the castle, the round artillery tower constructed between 1540 and 1545. This illustration was reproduced across pages 6-7 of the 1999 English Heritage guidebook for Pendennis and St Mawes Castles.

Reconstruction illustration IC077/004 shows a very similar view of the gun deck; it is likely that IC077/004 is an earlier, unused version of this scene.
