A cropped and digitally-altered version of this illustration was reproduced inside the front cover of the 1994 English Heritage guidebook for Rievaulx Abbey as part of an orientation illustration. The original painting was created in May 1984, with amendments made in July of the same year by the same artist (Terry Ball); further landscape was added around the structures. This version of the illustration exists in digital form only, as it was later further amended and re-scanned to digitise its later form (see illustration IC086/022).
