Description

The exact purpose and appearance of this timber structure at Durrington Walls cannot be known for certain; some theories state that the timbers formed a 'temple' of concentric timber circles and other theories hold that that timber uprights were supporting pillars for a large circular building. This illustrations depicts just one interpretation of the available archaeological evidence.

This illustration was reproduced on page 24 of the 2005 English Heritage guidebook for Stonehenge.
