Description

The Bloody Tower began its life as the watergate of Henry III's castle in the early 1220s, with its footings right on the shoreline of the River Thames. The Bloody Tower was formerly known as the Garden Tower. This illustration was reproduced on page 51 of the 1984 Department of the Environment guidebook for the Tower of London.
